The feet may be formed by projecting limbs welded to the upright and stayed by angles d and the sleeve may have upstanding legs m to receive a toe-board n. The stand is movable towards and away from the wall p according to the width of decking γ required. further supported at the lateral edges by bent strip springs 12 which enter apertures in the rigid frame 1 and are anchored thereto and to the edge member 11 by sleeves 13, 13a. The rear ends of the edge member are bent over and secured to the rigid frame 1. In the case of a mattress for a bed the springs 10 may be connected to the rigid frame at all sides and ends by bent strip springs similar to springs 6, 6a. The helical springs 10 may be replaced by elastic rubber springs. The upholstery may comprise a rubberized hair mattress 14 and a latex foam mattress 16, the latter 'being secured to the springs 10 by strips 18 of fabric.
