Class 78 (3) A load lifting apparatus has a beam b pivoted about an axis y, and a bridge member c which is pivoted to tie beam at x and is adapted to abut against the edge of a platform f so that when the beam is raised by the screw jack d the parts b, c assume the positions b<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>1</SP> and the load is tipped on to the platform. An extensible frame g is moved into the position shown in Fig. 2 when it is required to increase the height of the lift. As shown in Fig. 2 the bridge member may be provided with side plates h to convert it into a shoot for handling loose material.
