Class 136(2) In a bicycle propelling mechanism of the type in which the driving wheel 10 is mounted not on the crank shaft 1 but on a separate shaft 9 coupled to it through an intermediate idle wheel 7 operating in contact with pinions 6, 8 provided on both shafts, the pinions 6, 8 and the wheel 7 are nositioned at the meeting place of the front and rear members 12, 13 of the bicycle frame, so that they all be conveniently encased in a gear box 19. The pedal cranks 2, 3 are 7 inches long and the diameters of the pinion 6, idle wheel 7, pinion 8 and driving wheel 10 are approximately 2, 3.2, 1.2 and 5 inches respectively.
