706,658. Belt fastenings. ZILLER, H. March 3 1952 [March 3, 1951], No. 5569/52. Class 80 (1) A fastening for conveyer belts comprises rows of wire hooks 3 on the ends 1, 2 of the belt which are coupled by intermediate pieces 6 which stand out beyond the limbs of the hooks 3 to protect them from wear. Connecting pins 13, 14, preferably flexible, pass through the hook eyelets 4, 5 and corresponding holes 8, 9 in the intermediate pieces which may also be aligned upon a flexible centre pin 10 and have separate or integral spacing members 11. The intermediate pieces 6 may be provided with extensions which extend over the length of the limbs of the wire hook and alternate pieces may be arranged between the centre pin 10 and the two rows of eyelets. These pieces are preferably of a wear resisting material such as steel, synthetic material, rubber. or rubber with metallic insertions. In a modified arrangement a single intermediate piece may be provided which has inserted wire eyelets at each side for coupling by means of pins to the belt eyelets. Such a member may be of rubber or formed of a strip of fabric or belting with rubber wear pieces vulcanized on one or both sides.
