Driving and like chains with separate joint pins.-In conveyer chains of the kind comprising U-shaped links 1 connected togetther by bolts 2 lying in contact with the bases or, cross-bars of the link so as to distribute t h e pulling strains along their length, the heads of the bolts and the washers at the opposite ends are arranged parallel to the side arms of the links, and may be rectangular and of the same width as the arms of the links, as shown in Fig. 7, to prevent grit from being conveyed along beneath them. Flats may be formed on the pins and in the eyes of the links to prevent relative rotation.
