Abstract

641,878. Endless-belt conveyers. CABLE BELT, Ltd. March 2, 1949, Nos. 5738 and 18005. [Class 78 (i)] In an endless belt conveyer wherein the belt is supported at its sides on driving cables by cross-bars or straps attached to the belt and provided at their ends with cable-engaging means, the belt is formed with, or fitted with attachments to provide, openings through which the cross-bars or straps extend. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 1, 2, the belt 10 moulded from rubber and reinforced by a single ply 11 of textile material folded over at 12, is formed at intervals with thickened portions 13 each having a slot 14 to receive a metal strap 17 on which are secured heads 18 engaging cables 19 which are supported and driven by an arrangement of idler and driving sheaves such as, for example, that described in Specification 641,817. The thickened portions may be formed of rubber strips moulded separately from the belt and bonded or fixed in any other manner as, for example, by rivets or staples passing through the belt. In a modification the straps are passed through openings 22, Fig. 5, formed between the belt and metal strips 23 secured by rivets 24 and spaced at intervals across the belt. Specification 641,854 is referred to in both Provisional Specifications.
