Abstract

Solid polyisobutylene is dispersed in an aqueous medium using as the sole dispersing agent kaolin, which may amount to 40 to 125 parts per 100 parts of polyisobutylene. The kaolin, which may be wetted with water, is uniformly dispersed in the polyisobutylene and water is added, with continuous mixing, until phase inversion occurs. The dispersions, which are diluted to the required p concentration, are neutral and stable to acids. The example describes the preparation of a dispersion containing 65 per cent. solids.
