Abstract

706,456. Control of D.C. Motors. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. March 26, 1952 [March 30, 1951], No. 7730/52. Class 38(3) Relates to a control system similar to that described in Specification 706,455 but the claims refer to means for checking the sequential advance of the motor accelerating steps in response to the magnitude of the motor current and to a voltage induced in a field winding of the motor. Reference is also made to means for discontinuing dynamic braking operation when the braking-current falls. to a low value. In a modification of the arrangement shown in the Specification referred to above, the coil 25 of the current-limit relay LR<SP>1</SP> is connected directly across the series field winding 6, an increment of motor current causing a transient voltage increase across terminals 17, 18, due to the inductance of the field winding. The winding 25 therefore receives a steady-state voltage as well as a transient voltage.
