[Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVII] The energizing winding 13a of a brake 13 for controlling an electric motor (see Group XXXVII) is connected to the output terminals 17, 18 of a self-saturating magnetic amplifier MA. The amplifier comprises A.C. input terminals 20, 21, A.C. main power windings 22, 23, and D.C. reference and signal windings 24, 25. The input and output terminals, and the windings 22, 23, are interconnected through a rectifier system 26 . . . 31, the common point between rectifiers 27, 28 being joined to the common terminal of rectifiers 30, 31. The voltage applied to the input terminals is adapted to be reduced by means of a resistor rl. The polarity of the voltage applied to the winding 24 is such as to turn on the amplifier, the winding 25 being in opposition to the winding 24. Specification 704,700, [Group XXXVII], is referred to.
