Abstract

A fibre contacting, particularly a fibre-drafting, element, for use in processing textile fibres, particularly in spinning, is composed of oil-resistant synthetic rubber composition containing at least two and preferably twenty parts by weight, to one hundred parts by weight of the rubber, of a surface active agent. Butadiene-acryli nitrile copolymer is specified, and specified surface active agents are a fatty acid-ethylene oxide condensation product, polyethylene glycol mono-laurate, a salt of a high molecular weight fatty amide, cetyl pyridinium bromide, cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide and triethanol-amine mono-oleic ester. The usual compounding ingredients such as zinc oxide, sulphur, carbon black, clay antioxidants and vulcanizing accelerators may be added before vulcanizing, while a colloidal water-soluble gum may also be present. The rubber composition may be cellular.
