Abstract

Polyethylene compositions comprising polyethylene and from substantially 0.005 to 0.5% by weight of a polypropylene glycol monoalkyl ether, with an average molecular weight of from 750 to 3000, have a low coefficient of friction. The ether may have the general formula <FORM:0824480/IV (a)/1> wherein X is 0, or an integer of from 1 to 5, and n is an integer of from 12 to 52, and is incorporated in the ethylene feed prior to polymerization or alternatively added to pelleted or powdered polymer by tumbling or spraying. Up to 5% of an inhibitor, such as phenyl a -naphthylamine, and stabilizers may be included.
