Abstract

705,806. Conveyers. ROCHLING, M., and ROCHLING, C., [trading as BREMER UMSCHLAGS-UND HANDELS-GES.June 12, 1952, No. 14879/52. Classes 78 (1) and 78 (4) Apparatus for loading ships with bulk materials comprises a circular guideway adapted to pass through the loading hatchway of a ship and an endless conveyer with a part depressed by rollers at the sides and running at a high speed to accelerate the material. A supporting frame 1 is raised and lowered through the hatchway by a derrick engaging lugs on the frame. Bearers 3 on the frame support a reinforcing ring 4 and rollers 6 which engage in a guideway 7 of the conveyer 22. To rotate the guideway a crown wheel 8 is mounted thereon meshing with a driven spur pinion. The material is fed to a hopper 13 secured to the guideway and falls on to the conveyer which passes round rollers 21 and 23 mounted on struts 15, 15<SP>1</SP> secured to struts 14 secured to the guideway. The roller 21 is driven by a motor 18 and the roller 23 is adjustably mounted to vary the height of discharge of material. The belt is tensioned by edge rollers 25 adjustably mounted. In a modification the conveyer is mounted to rotate on a base plate and is lowered as a unit into the ship. In a further modification the hopper has an extended guide portion.
