705,560. Throat-operated and like transmitters. SVENSKA AKTIEBOLAGET GASACCUMULATOR. Oct. 16, 1952 [Oct. 17, 1951],No. 25974/52. Class 40 (4) In a contact microphone having an outer membrane 9 and an inner diaphragm 4 forming part of an electro-acoustic transducer system, the diaphragm 4 and the membrane 9 are connected by an acoustic network comprising two air chambers 16, 17 connected by apertures 15 which are so proportioned with respect to the volumes of the air chambers that the low frequencies are suppressed. The inner diaphragm 4 is made resonant within the upper part of the speech band. In the electromagnetic instrument shown the chambers 17 and 16 are bounded by the diaphragm 4 and a partition 8, and by the partition 8 and the outer membrane 9, respectively. The latter chamber is formed by an annular depression in the partition 8 but an alternative embodiment having a central circular chamber is referred to. The invention is stated to be suitable for carbon granule and piezo-electric instruments, and an arrangement of the microphone cable reinforced with a resilient insert to form a neck-band is also described.
