Abstract

705,286. Lawn-mowers. BOOTON, C. F. April 30, 1952 [April 30, 1951], No. 10137/51. Class 6 (2) The ledger-blade 6 of a lawn-mower is carried by a frame 8 suspended From a cross-bar 17 of the machine and adjustable thereon by ecentrics 15, an adjustable stop 19 being provided for determining the point of engagement between the blade 6 and the cutter-cylinder 3. The frame 8 comprises an arcuate plate surrounding the cutter-cylinder, and incorporates lugs 11 adjacent to the side-plates 10 of the machine, the lugs having vertical slots 12 which engage flattened portions of a lower cross-bar 13 extending between the side-plates. The frame 8 carries two upper lugs 14 which form bearings for the eccentrics 18, the latter being frictionally held in place by straps 20. The eccentrics are mounted on a tube 16 rotatably encircling the cross-bar 17. Mounted on the table 16 is an adjustable clamp 19 which forms a stop to the movement of the ledger-blade by abutting on the plate 8. When the clamp is set correctly, the ledger-blade may be lowered for convenience in transport and later re-set by rotation of a handle 18 until the stop abuts the plate 8. The arrangement may be applied to hand-propelled or motor mowers.
