704,838. Soldering and brazing. MULTICORE SOLDERS, Ltd., ARBIB, R., and WILLCOX, T. W. J. June 27, 1951 [Aug. 18, 1950; Aug. 25, 1950], Nos. 2245/53 and 2246/53. Divided out of 704,763. Class 83 (4) In a mix cored solder rod or wire the flux is arranged as a layer of uniform ring cross section positioned between an outer skin of solder and an inner main body of solder, the thickness of the outer skin and the layer of flux when considered in cross section being less than the thickness of the inner main body measured from the axis of the rod or wire. The thickness of the flux and skin is preferably no greater than two-fifths of the maximum thickness of the rod or wire measured from the axis of the wire or rod. In an embodiment flux 2a lies between an inner body of solder 1a and an outer skin of solder 1b. The solder in the skin 1 b may be of 60 per cent tinlead, having a lower melting-point than the body 1a of 40 per cent tin-lead. The flux 2a may be of rosin or rosin mixed with a solvent. According to the first Provisional Specification a hollow body may be formed of spaced flux cores joined by webs of flux. The wire may be of square, rectangular or polygonal section and the hollow body may be of triangular or other shape in section. The solder metal surrounding or enveloped by the flux body may contain flux cores. According to the second Provisional Specification a wire may have separate flux cores arranged in a zone about the wire axis.
