Abstract
704,130. Gas compressors. HYDROVANE COMPRESSOR CO., Ltd. Aug. 7, 1952 [March 11, 1952], No. 6263/52. Class 8 (1). Means for separating oil from oil laden air or other gas comprises a permeable pad c, e.g. of compressed wool-felt, contained in a housing a and adapted to be saturated with oil such that a film of oil can accumulate on its emergent face and trickle into a gas-outlet chamber e having a gas outlet f; the oil is discharged from the chamber through a spring- loaded valve h responsive to the pressure in the chamber and forming with its seating i an automatically-variable restricted orifice. The gas is supplied by a rotary gas pump b through a perforated duct d. The valve h is held open by a stem i attached to a diaphragm k loaded by a spring m and subjected on its under side to the oil pressure, the oil passes through an orifice n and a passage p and returns to the pump. When the oil has been discharged from the chamber e the valve will move towards its closed position due to the higher pressure then acting on the diaphragm.
