Abstract

Refrigerated compressed air is fed in to the side of a vertical cylindrical chamber with a coaxial inner cylinder reaching almost to the top. Above the air inlet a toroidal absorber mass of metal mesh catches oil and water droplets, the dry air passing to the top space of the tank and then down through an alumina adsorber mass allowing a dew point of -20 degrees C at 9 bars pressure. Finally a dust filter at the base catches all particles larger than 35 microns. The main compressed air reservoir is fed via a NRV upstream of which is a diaphragm valve connected to an auxiliary tank used for purging air supply.
