Abstract
704,126. Lifting cords for blinds. AKTIESELSKABET C. FABERS FABRIKER. Feb. 19, 1952 [Feb. 21, 1951], No. 4418/52. Class 20 (3). [Also in Group XXV] A locking mechanism for a lifting cord 20 of a blind comprises a U-shaped bracket 10 and a wedging roller 24 mounted on a member 22 which is pivoted about an eccentric axis between the arms of the bracket 10, the arrangement being such that the wedging roller 24 revolves freely oii the member 22 in one direction but moves to wedge the cord against the base of the bracket when rotated in the other direction. The member 22 is pivoted on a pin 16 and has studs 26 which engage in curved slots 28 to limit the swinging movement of the member 22. A small cylinder or ball 32 is arranged in a recess 30 in the member 22 and acts in co-operation with the edge 34 of the recess to prevent the roller 24 rotating freely in (as shown) a clockwise direction. The cord is secured or released by moving it towards or away from the roller 24. In a modification the studs 26 and slots 28 are replaced by rollers against which the external periphery of the roller 24 abuts when the member 22 is in one or other of its extreme positions.
