Abstract

594,056. Optical projectors for strip film. LANCHESTER, G. H. June 25, 1945, No. 16156. [Class 97 (i)] In a gate for optical projection apparatus for strip film, the pressure plate 4 is hinged at 5 and the end 7 lifted during film movement by a cam 8, the pressure glass 1 being carried in a frame 2 pivoted at 3 to the plate 4, the frame being acted on below the axis 3 by a leaf spring 9, and its pivotal movement being limited by a stop. The leaf spring thus keeps the end of the pressure plate in contact with the cam and, as the end of the plate is lifted, rotates the frame 2 in a direction opposite to the rotation of the plate so that approximately parallel movement of the glass 1 is obtained. The stop to limit the movement of the frame 2 is the edge 13 of the aperture in the plate 4 into which the frame projects. The spring 9 is coiled round a pin 10 and its central portion is secured by a nut 12, its two free ends bearing on the frame 2.
