[Class 97 (i)] In a film projector, a convexly curved rotary gate comprising two spaced parallel discs adapted to rotate on a common axis is provided, the spacing between the discs being substantially the same as the width of the frames of the film to be projected and outwardly extending flanges on the discs at the sides farthest from the space between them being spaced so as to receive the film widthwise with a small tolerance. As shown the spaced discs 1 forming the gate are mounted in parallel relation on coaxial trunnions 2 projecting outwardly from forked column 3 and have opposite faces stepped peripherally to form flanges and shoulders grooved to support bands 6 of resilient rubber. Spring pressure elements to hold the film in position comprising rollers 7 at the outer ends of arms 8 are mounted on a slidable carriage 10 which is yieldingly held in position by a spring catch 27 and pin 28. The projection aperture in a plate 13 and the projection lenses in a tube 15 are both situated between the discs 1 which are turned by the manual operation of a knob and coupled for synchronous rotation by wheels 18, Fig. 4, fixed to a shaft 19 borne by a block 20 which is adjustably supported between a spring 23 and a pointed sleeve 24.
