581,918. Cinematograph projectors. WATSON, T. D., SUTTON, A. A., and GARRARD ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. May 22, 1944, No. 9840. [Class 97 (i)] in a cinematograph projector for use with films of different widths, alternative gates and feeding devices are carried by displaceable supporting means permanently secured to the apparatus. As shown in Fig. 2, guide grooves' and gates 11 and 12 are provided for two films in a, carrier 1 which is rotatable on a spindle 9 'to bring either gate, together with the corresponding projection of the pressure plate 15, into the operative position. Also rotatable with the carrier 1 is a claw plate 6 (see Fig. 4), having two pairs of feeding claws 27, which is pivoted about a vertical axis and given. an up- and-down motion by a cam mounted on the spindle 9 driven from the spindle 31. This spindle also rotates a cam 32 adapted to rock the claw plate about its vertical axis against the spring pressure of a roller and in synchronism with the film feeding mechanism, preferably to withdraw the claws 27 from the film, or alternatively to cause them to engage it.
