Abstract
985,916. Loop formers in cinematographic apparatus. AGFA A. G. June 15, 1961 [June 18, 1960], No. 21715/61. Heading G2E. A cinematographic apparatus has at least one film loop former for guiding a film so that it is longitudinally curved while its transverse axes are parallel to one another, then each loop former being a guide block having a film channel for enclosing all but one edge of the film and being movable in a straight line parallel to the transverse axes of the film. In the projector shown the film 31 is surrounded on all sides, all along its path through the camera by a block 27 with groove 28 and a movable plate 29, a guard 19 rotatably mounted on pin 21 which abuts a feed sprocket 10,a film loop former 37,a film gate 4 and a plate 49 on the projection lens mount 48, a second film loop former 38, a guard 20 rotatably mounted at 22 which abuts take up sprocket 11, and a block 32 with a slidable plate 35 and a groove 34. During the film threading, a claw 8 engages a film perforation. When the leading edge of the film reaches a sprocket on a lever 82 it pivots the lever which operates a switch 81 which turns on the projector lamp and operates means for intermittently withdrawing the pawl 8 and the film loop formers 37, 38 from the film. The formers are mounted on shafts 39 which are pivotably mounted on another shaft. Also mounted on this other shaft is a cam for controlling the position of the pawl 7 and the armature of an electromagnet 14 which is controlled by the switch 81. When switch 81 is open the said other shaft is spring urged into position in which the formers and pawls are as shown, i.e. for film threading. When the switch is closed the armature moves to rotate the shaft which causes the formers to move in the direction of shafts 39 away from the film and the pawl 7 in the direction of perpendicular to the film gate. The sprockets 10,11 are driven through gears 14-17 and shaft 18 by an electric motor. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 946, 118.
