Abstract
728,796. Kinematograph apparatus. HOURDIAUX, J. June 8, 1953 [June 12, 1952], No. 15701/53. Class 97 (1). [Also in Group XVI] A film is fed intermittently by a beater 23, Fig. 5, carried on a pivoted arm 21, engaging a film loop and actuated in the direction of feed by successive projections 25 on a disc 24, each of which projections knocks the arm towards an adjustable resilient abutment 28 from which it rebounds towards the disc for actuation by the next abutment. The projections 25 preferably engage a member 27 carried by the arm 21. The disc 24 may be carried on the same shaft as the lower film sprocket which may also carry a fly-wheel and be driven through a flexible coupling from a worm-wheel. The latter, and the worm-wheel on the upper sprocket shaft may be driven from a common worm. An additional beater for reverse feed may be driven from the same cam disc. In a panoramic system several beaters for feeding separate films may be driven from a common disc. A similar disc may be used to actuate a reciprocating shutter. A projector including the feed mechanism may also include the film gate, shown in Fig. 6, which comprises a plate 13, with projection aperture 14, against which the film is held by a transverse spring 17 shown in section in Fig. 8. The plate also carries edge guide members 18, having surfaces 19 engaging the film and portions 20 overhanging the film margin. Contact of the film with the surface 19 is ensured by offsetting the film path at the gate with respect to the film sprockets above and below it. For this purpose the plate 13 is secured by screws 15 in slotted holes 16.
