Abstract
499,026. Kinematograph cameras. UNIVERSAL CAMERA CORPORATION. June 14, 1937, No. 16484. Convention date, Jan. 21. [Class 97 (i)] Consists in intermittent film-feeding means including a reciprocating shuttle, and a single exposure shutter connected to another reciprocating shuttle, driving means being provided for directly causing straight-line synchronous reciprocation of both shuttles, the driving means being mounted on a single rotatable shaft. As shown, the film-feeding mechanism comprises a shuttle 211 with a central aperture 212 and two elongated apertures 213, 214 through which pass members 215 threaded into the frame 216. A cam 220 on shaft 222 and engaging aperture 212 reciprocates shuttle 211 in a straight line. A pinion on shaft 222 engages the spring driving mechanism. A dog 225 on shuttle 211 has a toothed portion 225a to engage the film perforations P and has a spring 226 to urge the tooth 225a against the film F. An abutment member 229 on the shuttle 211 is disposed in the path of an arm 225b of the dog 225, so that on the downward stroke the arm 225b abuts the member 229 and on the upward stroke the arm 225b is free to move away from the abutment 229. The shutter 231 is integral with the shuttle 250 and is formed by bending a portion 250a of the shuttle 250 at right-angles. A cam 234 mounted on the shaft 222 engages in the aperture 236 and reciprocates the shuttle 250 and the shutter 231 in a straight line. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a hinged film gate 240 held in effective position by a spring 247 and provided with an opening containing a press pad adapted to contact the film. The wall 254 has an aperture receiving a bushing externally threaded to receive the lens. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
