Abstract

702,092. Friction clutches. KREIS, F., and SOC. ITALIANA BREVETTI AUTOMOBILISTICI AR.L. Oct. 11, 1951 [Oct. 11, 1950], No. 23705/51. Class 80 (2) Lubricant is introduced into a friction disc clutch through a bore 15 in the shaft 1. The clutch member 4 has an annular wall 9 with a flange 16 forming an annular space 17 into which the lubricant enters. Holes 18 in the wall 9 in front of the spaces between the clutch discs are preferably arranged in helicoidal disposition. The lubricant is discharged through a series of holes 19 in the wall 6 of the clutch member 3 into a chamber 20 formed by the casing 2. Holes, slots, or recesses arranged in staggered relationship are provided in the discs to remove the lubricant on clutch engagement. As shown, centrifugal weights 12 held together by a spring 13 and having conical headed bolts 14 control clutch engagement. The lubricant may be introduced into the annular space 17 through holes or slots in the sleeve 5.
