Class 110 (1) A liquid-ring pump comprises a rotor 8 operating in a chamber bounded by a lobed body 3, a ported cone 18 and a head 2, the ported cone being divided into an inner port 24 and an outer port 23, the outer port being longitudinally adjustable relative to the inner port. The inner port 24 is integral with the head 2, and the outer port 23 is secured to it by means of a ring 39 which is drawn against a shoulder 40 by means of bolts 41 which are threaded into the port 24. Shims 38, of metal, paper or synthetic material, are provided between the port 23 and the head 2 to permit adjustment of the longitudinal position of the latter. Part 23 can be adjusted rotatively to change the angular positions of the inlet and outlet ports 20, 21 relative to the lobes 4, 5. The longitudinal position of the rotor 8 can be adjusted by shims 49b which are inserted between a bearing bracket 47 and a member 48, 49 which carries the outer race of a bearing 50. The opposite bearing 50f is free to slide axially within its bracket 51. A partition 16 on the rotor 8 co-operates with a partition 17 on the body 3 to divide the pump into two chambers each having its own inlet and discharge. The two parts of the pump can be used separately or connected to a common source of supply or a common discharge conduit. The lower lobes 5 are preferably interconnected through a conduit 56 to provide an automatic distribution of the water in the water ring to the best advantage between the two parts of the pump. The water ring can be unloaded through an outlet 57. There may be separate interconnection for the automatic distribution and unloading. The pump may have only one chamber.
