Abstract
700,773. Railway wagon haulage apparatus. MITCHELL, F. G. March 14, 1952 [March 21, 1951], No. 6810/51. Class 104 (2). A railway wagon haulage apparatus in which a wheeled mule 6 is provided with a hooked arm 10 pivotally mounted thereon so as to engage a wagon coupling chain 14 and which runs on the bottom rails 7 of a track located between the railways rails 5, and provided with upper guides 8 to prevent the mule 6 lifting during the hauling movement, has wing pieces 15 spaced apart on opposite sides of the hook 10 to form a guide which embraces a link of the chain 14 to centralize the eye of the link with respect to the hook 10. The wing pieces 15 may be formed as hooks with their tips turned outwardly. The mule 6 is driven by an electric motor or other suitable means through a drum 20 and a rope 16.
