700,627. Electromagnetic relays. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Dec. 12, 1951 [Dec. 29, 1950], No. 31647/50. Class 38(5) The effective length of a spring D biasing the armature C of a relay is varied by screwing a screw E into the spring and so varying the number of active turns; the tension of the spring is separately adjustable by rotating a bush G and so causing the bodily downward or upward movement of the screw E and the spring D. After the first adjustment, a split plate F which can slide in a slot in the frame I is tightened by a set screw so preventing further rotation of the screw. The spring D is connected to the armature C by way of a bimetal strip K which reduces the tension on the spring with rise of temperature and so compensates for variation of resistance of winding with temperature and keeps the operating and release voltages of the relay unchanged.
