Abstract
700,594. Bayonets. FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE. June 16, 1952 [June 26, 1951], No. 15135/52. Class 119 A bayonet 3 has a handle 5 which is grooved to engage a tenon on the barrel 2 and which at its rear end carries a pivotally movable rod mounted on resilient means and having an arm adapted to abut against the tenon. By this means the bayonet does not at once experience the shock of recoil and does not therefore affect tilt of the barrel when a shot is fired. The handle 5 of the bayonet shown fits over a tenon 4 of the barrel, and is recessed at 6 to receive the spring 11 which bears at one end against a collar 12 and at the other against an adjustable screw on a tiltable rod 7. A spring 14 normally forces the rear end of the rod upwardly so that a face 9 on an arm 8 of the rod bears against the rear face of the tenon 4. A projection 10 of the arm 8 enables the rod to be depressed by hand so that the bayonet can be removed, by a forward sliding movement, from the barrel.
