Sept. 9, 1935, No. 25069. Convention date, Sept. 7, 1934. [Class 92 (ii)] To regulate the speed of firing, the length of rearward travel of the breech block is varied by a buffer device the whole or part of which can be moved into or out of the path of the breech block mechanism. In the form shown, a spring-controlled plunger 13 is carried by an arm 17 pivotally movable by actuating an external handle mounted on a hinge pin 15. When adjusted to the position shown, a ledge 20 on the plunger is engaged by a nose 23 on the actuating slide 4 of the breech block 3. If a longer travel of the breech block is required, the buffer is swung upwardly out of range of the slide 4. The Specification states that the impact element of the buffer can be provided with a number of stepped ledges.
