Abstract

A composition for the protection of trees and plants comprises a thickened vegetable oil prepared by heating a vegetable oil to expel the most volatile part thereof and blowing air therein during the course of the heating, in combination with an oxidation and polymerization inhibitor and one or more of the following substances, viz: antiseptics, hormones, and substances toxic or repulsive to pests. The inhibitor may be phenyl-a naphthylamine, iodine or hydroquinone. The oil may be linseed, castor, cotton seed, soya bean or other drying or semi-drying oil or fatty substance. The composition may also include a filler, such as fibres of amianth, marble powder, cork or sawdust, and/or a volatile thinner such as propyl or ethyl alcohol or carbon tetrachloride.ALSO:A composition for the protection of trees and plants comprises a thickened vegetable oil prepared by heating a vegetable oil to expel the most volatile part thereof and blowing air therein during the course of the heating, in combination with an oxidation and polymerization inhibitor and one or more of the following substances, viz: antiseptics, hormones, and substances toxic or repulsive to pests.
