Abstract

699,714. Liquid-fuel burners. TOPLEY, C. W. Sept. 2, 1952 [Sept. 7, 1951], No. 21215/51. Class 75(i) The vaporizer bulb of a burner is a downwardly and outwardly flared bellshaped heat conducting member 1 open at its lower end and adapted to enclose a fuel vaporizing space 19 and is provided with at least one passage 17 extending through its interior and top 4 to pass a supply of secondary air to the centre of the burner flame. The skirt 5 of the bulb 1 is concave at the top 7 and convex at the bottom 8 and the shape is such that the skirt 5 is thinnest at the junction between the portions 7 and 8. The top 4 of the bulb 1 may be solid or hollow and flat or upwardly domed. The vaporizing chamber 19 is formed between the inner - wall of the bulb 1 and a raised portion 13 formed on the burner base. The portion 13 may be formed so as to restrict the vaporizing chamber at the thinnest part of the skirt 5 or to conform to the inner surface of the skirt 5. The burner may be circular or rectangular in shape and more than one passage 17, Fig. 6, (not shown), may be provided. The primary air holes 21 in the grill 3 decrease in size from the bottom to the top of the grill.
