699,520. Making valves. TEVES, A., TEVES, H., and TEVES, E. A., [trading as TEVES MASCHINEN-UND ARMATURENFABRIK KOMMANDIT-GES., A.]. Dec. 1, 1950 [Dec. 1, 1949], No. 29509/50. Class 83 (ii). In the manufacture of valves, particularly exhaust valves, for internal combustion engines hard metal 2 such as that known under the Registered Trade Mark " Stellite " is applied in a recess in the region of the outer underside of the head and the edge of the head is subsequently swaged so that the reinforcing metal covers the valve face 5, the periphery of the head 6 and the underside 7 of the head adjacent the face. In a modification, Fig. 3, the reinforcing metal is applied to the outer edge of the head which is then forged to finished shape, a small amount of grinding at the face 9 only being necessary.
