Abstract

658,185. Combustion chambers. CONTINENTAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Feb. 21, 1948, No. 5214. Convention date, April 9, 1942. [Class 7(ii)] A combustion chamber in an overhead valve engine is formed in plan as shown in Fig. 6 and the side walls 20, 21 are curved adjacent the intake and exhaust valves 17 so that on opening, the clearance between the edge 22 of the valves and the walls 20, 21 is always at least as great as the clearance between the valve and its seat 16. Specification 287,258, [Class 7(ii)], and U.S.A. Specification 1,840,610 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a cylinder head construction which is described in Specification 658,186. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
