698,384. Shearing. HYDROPRESS, Inc. Oct. 25, 1951 [Oct. 27, 1950], No. 24973/51. Class 83 (iv). A rotary-blade shearing machine has blades 38 on shafts 37 carried by auxiliary slides 36 adjusted by screw mechanism on main slides 29. The latter carry shafts 31 with blades 34 and are adjustable by rack mechanism in an upper frame 12. A lower frame 11 carries similar slides and blades. Rotation of the blades is effected through flexible couplings 40 and keys between shafts 39, 31, 37. By adjusting the screws and the rack mechanism the blades 38, 34 on each frame may be adjusted transversely independently. The upper frame 12 is adjusted on posts 13, secured to the lower frame 11, by screw mechanism, and is counterpoised by bolts 21 secured to the frame and raised by springs 22 supported by cross-heads 17 engaging the ends of the posts 13.
