Abstract

642,561. Cutting-mechanisms. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. April 9, 1948, No. 10034. [Class 31 (i)] A cutting mechanism of the kind in which the cutting action is performed by a pair of relatively - reciprocating cutting elements urged towards each other in a lateral direction, is characterised in that one of the cutting elements is connected to a support by means of an insert of rubber, the cutting elements being arranged to bear against each other to such an extent that the rubber is distorted and thus causes resilient pressure to be exerted between the cutting elements. As shown in Fig. 1, a cutting knife 18 is secured over a rubber bush 22 which is in turn secured to a pin 24 of the support 12. In a modification, not shown, a rubber block is provided as an insert in the blade 18.
