Abstract

657,646. Cupping. STEVENS, A. H. (Clearing Machine Corporation). Jan. 28, 1949, No. 2404. [Class 83 (iv)] The blank-holding ring 7 of a metal-drawing press is connected to its slide 1 by a number of separately operated adjusting members 9. These may each have one end adjustably received in the slide and the other end universally jointed to the ring. As shown, the members 9 are screwed into nuts 14 mounted in sockets 17 in the usual blank-holder slide 1 with its adjusting screws 11. The screws 16 are locked by nuts 18 after adjustment. The lower ends have ball joints 20 with a ring 8 carrying the ring 7. After this has been fixed in adjusted position ball-jointed blocks 33 carried by similar screws 29 are brought down to engage and support the ring 8 at points between the joints 20.
