697,783. Oven doors. UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and BLANCHFORD, R. F. Dec. 18, 1950 [Dec. 16, 1949], No. 32405/49. Class 126 A resilient sealing strip is secured to an oven door frame to project inwardly and engage under pressure the inwardly tapering edges of a raised lining on the inner surface of the door when it is closed. The door 1 is hinged at the lower edge of a rectangular door frame formed of cast iron members 2, 3 of such cross-section as to locate the inner and outer oven walls 6, 7. A stainless spring steel sealing strip 8 is secured by screws 13 flush with the front faces of the side and top frame members 2 so as to project inwardly at an angle and leave a space between the .sealing strip and the inner arm of the channel section frame members 2. Lengthwise grooves formed in the sealing strip 8-seat in corresponding grooves 11 in the frame members 2. The front edges of the outer oven wall 7 may be inturned to engage the grooves 11, and are secured by the screws 13. The door 1 has a raised lining 15 with inwardly tapered edges, which press against the sealing strip 8 and bearing sleeve 17 of the hinge when the door is closed. An additional sealing strip may be provided along the lower frame member 3.
