Abstract
590,050. Bolt sockets. KEARNEY, A. R. April 11, 1945, No. 8968. [Class 44] In a socket for a vertically sliding bolt, e.g., a panic bolt, comprising a sleeve a adapted to be sunk in the floor, with a flange b, and a plate c having an opening for the bolt nose, the opening being normally closed by a plate d carried by a guide member e which is pressed upwardly by a spring f, the guide member is formed so that its exterior surface is spaced from the inner wall of the sleeve over the greater part of its periphery. The guide member may be formed with ribs bearing on the inner surface of the sleeve a, or may be of angular section, e.g., triangular as shown, so that only the edges are in contact with the sleeve.
