Abstract

697,535. Machines for making sweetmeats. FUHRlTZ, W., and LIEBELT, H. May 2, 1951 [May 4, 1950]. No. 10344/51. Class 87 (ii). The interengaging stamping and cutting chains 10, 11, Fig. 1, are mounted in a frame 24 which can be inserted as a unit in the machine frame 25. The chains are driven by pulleys 12, 13 from shafts 14, 15 having interengaging gears. The shaft 14 has a tongue 27 at one of its ends which engages with a groove 28 in the end of the main driving shaft 26, Fig. 3. Lateral dies are controlled by cams or (as shown) chains 29, 30. The top and bottom chains are pressed into the confectionery strip by pressure rails. The rail for the top chain may be adjustable. The shafts of the rollers 16, 17 for the chains 10, 11 are mounted in slots to allow the tension of the chains to be adjusted. Intermediate gearing for the chain drive may be mounted on the frame 24 or the frame 25.
