Abstract

489,546. Roller drawing - gear for producing fancy yarns. SYKES & SONS, Ltd., J., and SYKES, E. Jan. 26, 1937, No. 2235. [Class 120 (ii)] In mechanism for driving the rollers of a spinning-frame for producing fancy yarns comprising cam driven ratchet devices for driving the bottom rollers above the speed of the usual ratchet drive, the ratchet devices are driven by the cams through change gearing. As shown, the ratchets c, d for speeding up the bottom rollers a<1>, b<1> carry pinions c<3>, d<3> through change gears e, f to toothed wheels g, h which are driven by pawls g<2>, h<2> actuated by the cams m<3>, n<3> through levers m, n, links i, j and levers g<1>, h<1> carrying the pawls and loosely mounted on the axes of the wheels g, h. The cams are interchangeable and are detachably carried by a plate mounted on a stud p and driven by gears from the shaft r<5>. The usual knopping blades s, s<1> are actuated from a cam t<2> also driven from the shaft r<5>.
