Abstract
A dressing is prepared by applying a pulpy mass to a carrier and drying it at a low temperature, preferably at reduced pressure. The mass preferably contains dried bile, pancreas ferments, penicillin and sodium bicarbonate the activity of which materials is not interfered with owing to the use of low temperatures. Methyl cellulose may be used as a binding agent and may be dissolved in sterile water or methylene chloride and ethyl alcohol. The carrier material may be gauze, cotton wool or artificial resin foil. In use the dressing is soaked in sterile water for a few minutes and then applied to the wound.
