Abstract
Surgical dressing impregnated with a medical treatment agent in micro-capsule form. A backing sheet of gauze is soaked in a suspension in satd. soln. of micro-capsules contg. e.g. antiseptic or enzyme treatment agent; the gauze is drained and then dried, either by a hot air drier or by freeze-drying. The treatment agent is protected by remaining encapsulated until treatment is to take place. The capsule coatings may be broken by crushing between protective films just before application of the dressing; alternatively the micro-capsule coating material may be dissolved in the serosities of the treated wound.
