Abstract

A carrier of coherent microporous material, which may be of artificial resin, cellulosic material or rubber, is impregnated with a therapeutic or pesticidal agent. The carrier may be a cellulose derivative such as cellulose nitrate and the therapeutic agent is applied in solution. One face of the finished material may be coated with a substance which allows the passage of moisture but not of the impregnating agent, such as is described in Specification 648,733, [Group VI]. Therapeutic agents which may be employed are penicillin, streptomycin, chloromycitin, aureomycin and sulphonamides. Pesticidal agents such as D.D.T. and gamma benzene hexachloride may also be used. Specifications 565,022, 573,482; 574,659, [Group V], 576,657, 576,658, 576,659 and 624,393 also are referred to.ALSO:A carrier of coherent microporous material which may be of artificial resin, cellulosic material or rubber, is impregnated with a therapeutic or pesticidal agent. The carrier is preferably a plasticized polyvinyl halide to which the therapeutic agent is applied in solution. One face of the finished material may be coated with a substance which allows the passage of moisture but not of the impregnating agent, such as is described in Specification 648,733. Specifications 565,022, 573,482, [both in Group IV], 574,659, [Group V], 576,657, 576,658, 576,659 and 624,393, [all in Group IV], also are referred to. Therapeutic agents which may be employed are penicillin, streptomycin, chloromycetin, aurcomycin and sulphonamides. Pesticidal agents such as D.D.T. and gamma benzene hexachloride may also be used.
