Abstract

A surgical dressing comprises a stretchable base fabric having an adhesive rubber or rubber-like coating on its outer surface and a medication applied to its inner surface. The medication may be slightly adhesive, if necessary, but the amount applied is insufficient to cause loss of absorbency of the fabric and the dressing is primarily retained by the external coating. In the treatment of varicose ulcers, suitable medicaments are zinc stearate, aminoacridine hydrochloride, mercury succinimide and lead subacetate. Lead oleate may also be used.
