Abstract
697,128. Injectors and ejectors. GUARDITE CORPORATION. April 26, 1951 [Dec. 18, 1950]. No. 9757/51. Addition to 673,880. Class 71. An improvement in the three stage evacuation system claimed in the parent Specification comprises a two stage condenser system including. within a single shell 30, a first chamber 15 above a second chamber 25 the upper part of which serves as an entrained moisture separator. a condensing liquid inlet 13 to the chamber 15 below which is a gravity drain 18 sealed by a pool 23. means e.g., ejectors 11, 20 for supplying steam and non-condensible gases to the chambers 15, 25 sequentially. and an outlet 31 for non-condensibles leading to a vacuum pump 32. In operation the steam ejector 11 delivers non-condensible gases from a chamber 10 under evacuation into the chamber 15 where they are washed by inflowing water reflected from a plate 14 and are then delivered by the ejector 20 to the exterior of the pool 23 so as to be washed by the overflow therefrom before being discharged from the chamber 25. The pool 23 is supplied from the chamber 15 through the drain 18 and a pipe 22. which is of such length as to balance the pressure difference viz., about 2 inches mercury gauge between the two chambers 15, 25; the latter being of such dimensions that water particles separate out and fall back.
