Abstract
696,942. Reciprocating pumps. WINGET. Ltd. Nov. 10, 1950 [Nov. 10, 1949]. No. 28891/49. Class 102 (i). A reciprocating pump for delivering measured quantities comprises a cylinder 2 immersed in a reservoir 1 to the bottom of which a valve box 9. containing a suction valve 19 and a delivery valve 20, is attached. The piston 27 is provided with a valve 40 co-operating with a seat 44 and attached to a float 42 to permit air trapped beneath the piston 27 to escape. Liquid is supplied to the reservoir 1 through a valve 6 controlled by a float 7. The piston 27 is actuated by the piston 23 of a fluid-pressure motor and the stroke is varied by rods 38, which are secured to the piston 27 and project through the cover 21. Heads on the rods 38 contact an adjustable sleeve 49 on the motor cylinder 22 to limit the downwards stroke; the sleeve 22 is clamped to toothed racks 52.
