Abstract

696,083. Valve closure members, DEWRANCE & CO., Ltd. Jan. 8, 1951 [Jan. 7, 1950], No. 503/51. Addition to 695,488. Class 135 A wedge valve comprises a body 1 with inclined seats 2, 3, and a crosshead 9 carrying discs 19, 20 as described in the parent Specification. The actuating spindle 4 has a lost-motion connection with the crosshead and an extension 7 carrying a cylindrical roller 28 for engagement with bosses 23, 24 of the discs, which bosses slide in bushes 25, 26 respectively, in the crosshead. When the crosshead is lowered to close the valve, and the discs engage the seats, further movement of the spindle 4 causes-the roller 28 to press the discs outwardly. On opening the valve, initial movement of the spindle raises the roller to relieve the outward pressure.
