Abstract
695,601. Blasting cartridges. KROGH, G. F. VON. May 24, 1951 [May 25, 1950], No. 12186/51. Class 9(i) A primer charge 5 for use with blasting explosives is placed in a rigid casing 1 exended at the top into a narrow neck 2 in alignment with an axial recess 6 in the charge. The charge may be inserted into the case through the open base, the edge 7 being then bent inwards to secure the charge. A closure disc 8 may be inserted prior to the bending operation or a lid may be screwed or pressed on to the case. During storage and transport a plug may be inserted through the neck to close the top of the case. Prior to use, the plug is removed and replaced by an igniter 3 attached to a fuze 4. The tube 2 is then crimped on to the fuze. An electrically operated igniter may be used. When the primer charge is sufficiently rigid, the case 1 may only surround one end of the charge, the charge being coated to render it waterproof. The charge may be TNT and the case may be of aluminium.
