Abstract
841,790. Electric detonators. ETABLISSEMENTS DAVEY BICKFORD SMITH & CIE. April 24, 1958 (Oct. 22, 1957], No. 13100/58 Class 9(1). A housing 1 for an electric detonator 4 comprises a cylindrical block of wood, plastics or other suitable material having an axial bore 2 in which is placed a cup 3 to grip the base of the detonator. The cup 3 is preferably of a heatinsulating plastic material and the other end of the bore 2 is closed by the detonator plug 6 which has an annular flange 6a frictionally engaging the wall of the bore 2 and surrounding the leads 7. Heat-insulating material such as wax, plastics, asbestos or glass-wool may fill the annular space 5 around the detonator. A charge 8 of a compressed explosive such as tetryl may be placed in the cup 3 beneath the detonator, which is of a conventional type: The leads 7 may be taken along a groove or bore la parallel to the bore 2.
